ABOUT JOHN HOLDEN

My professional career in English communication began with a simple principle.

A senior partner at the international law firm Macleod Dixon believed that every document leaving the firm—whether a complex contract or a three-line email—had to be perfect. His reasoning was straightforward: if professionals charge premium fees, their written communication should reflect the same standard of excellence.

He hired me to review and refine the firm's English-language communications. That experience shaped the way I have approached language ever since. What began as editing and document review soon expanded into translation, presentation support, pronunciation coaching and communication consulting for lawyers, executives and international businesses.

Over the years I have worked on thousands of documents, ranging from contracts, legal opinions and reports to presentations, speeches and executive correspondence. Many of my clients already speak and write English well. What they value is an experienced second pair of eyes: someone who can refine a message, improve clarity, strengthen impact and ensure that the final product reflects the quality of their professional expertise.

One of the most valuable aspects of this process is that professionals learn from the review itself. The strongest communicators quickly identify recurring issues and steadily improve their own writing and presentation skills. Many clients become increasingly independent over time—a result I regard as a success.

Whether the task involves a three-line email, a conference presentation or a complex legal document, my objective remains the same:

To help professionals communicate in English with authority, precision and confidence.
